Background

The Brooklyn native is the muscle that Glenville State has been missing for the past couple years. At 6'6 240 Newell is a force in the paint. Each and every time he dunks the ball the rim is left on life support. As big as a force as he is in the paint Ed has a reallly nice jumper around 17 ft. His personality reflects the way he plays the game. Ed will not tolerate disrespect and if he feels he or his teammates have been disrepected the opponent will know about it. Ever since Newell stepped on campus he has been working on his game specifically his ball handling and his agility. With his massive size and already developed jump shot Ed will be virtually unstoppable once he continues to work and improve the things he is already working on.

Ed Newell suffered a punctured lung in a basketball game and continued to play in the game prior to coming to Glenville State. That is just an example of this guys toughness .

A. My favorite move on the court is the reverse pivot. Hip-Hop is my favorite type of music and I like to listen to Fabolous.I really dont read so I dont have a favorite book and Teen Wolf is my show.

Q. After you find yourself struggling for a bit, do you find yourself responding better to criticism or praise to step your game up ?

A. I like to hear criticisim. There is always room for improvement

Q. How do you get prepared for a game ?

A. Having a clear mind

Q. What is on the funniest in game stories you have?

A. Soph. year in JUCO the coach of the opposing team got 6 technicals fouls which resulted in us coming from way down to win the game.

Q. If you have a been a bench warmer or a guy didnt play as much when was it and what is going through your during the games ?

A.This year(13-14). The game looks good from hear (haha)

Q. Everyone has a celebrity look alike who do you get often called?

A. Almost every tall black basketball player

Q. If you could Build the Ultimate Player only using 4 body parts representing an aspect of that ultimate player. Mind =Players IQ/Mentality, Body= Players Build Legs= Players skillset, Kicks= Players on court swagger. You cannot use player twice
