Glenville State College
2013-2014 Glenvile State Pioneers
Glenville State Pioneers are a NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Program. The Pioneers were apart of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) for a very long time. In June 2012 Glenville State withdrew from the WVIAC along with nine other institutions to help form a brand new conference. With the help of three other institutions the Mountain East Conference was created.
The Pioneers are led by Head Coach Stephen Dye who enters his 5th season as Head Coach. Dye is assisted by first year assistant Justin Caldwell and Bill Lily which is Lily's 4th season as Dye's assistant. Caldwell was a sensational player during his college career and Lily was a former Head Coach at inner conference rival West Virginia Wesleyan.
The 2013-2014 Glenville State Pioneers return eight players. Coach Dye has brought in seven highly talented newcomers as well; therefore, with the mix of returners and new guys expect this team to do great things. Unlike the 2012-2013 Pioneers this years team has alot of experience, five seniors seniors, five juniors ,two sophmores, two RS freshman, and only one true freshman .
After finishing the '12-13 season 11th in the standings and losing their starting point guard and small forward the Pioneers were picked 8th in the inaugural preseason Mountain East Conference rankings.
